I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Livepeer (Cape Town) in June 2025
Interview
The team was incredibly welcoming and professional throughout the process. I built a great rapport with the HR Lead, and I received the offer in my inbox the very next day. When feedback is shared that quickly, it really speaks volumes about the efficiency and values of the organisation.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked about my recruitment experience in Web3
I had a first-round interview with the recruiter and was initially impressed by their enthusiasm and interest in my background. However, the process quickly became frustrating due to a lack of clear communication and transparency.
Early on, concerns were raised about my location, as they were looking for someone closer to the team and wanted confirmation that the posted salary is within my range. I clarified my willingness to relocate and confirmed the salary is in my range, and the recruiter responded positively, stating that my experience working at similar companies in the space was impressive and aligned well with the role. I was told I’d be moving forward in the process.
Despite this reassurance, I later received a generic rejection email from the ATS (do not reply) without any explanation. It became clear that the recruiter likely never believed I was a good fit but chose not to be upfront about it. Instead of providing honest feedback, I was misled, which wasted time and left a poor impression of the company’s hiring practices.
For a company operating in a rapidly evolving space like Web3, I expected a more professional and respectful approach to candidate engagement. Transparency and integrity should be baseline expectations in any recruitment process. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Livepeer.

Question 1
Logistics questions (Location, relocating, comp, etc). Give a high-level overview of my background.
After two interviews, one with HR and one with the head of marketing, I was ghosted. If I give you 90 minutes of my life, I expect at least a basic rejection email in return please.
They wanted to see if I'm a "culture fit" first, then HR sent an optional assignment, but the marketing person said it was a mistake :) That the assignment shouldn't have been sent till after the second interview. The assignment is also part of a bounty program for devrels, and it felt like they wanted to profit of people interested in the job. It indeed was paid, but they would pay you 50% of what they would normally pay a person that is not interviewing for the job.
