I applied online. I interviewed at Lumenalta in Apr 2020
Interview
The process seemed a little chaotic to me with lack of helpful communication. After a volley of confused back and forth emails, I received a time-bound programming assignment. Never heard back from them after its submission.
I didn't believe all the comments here thinking it's just candidates that didn't get the job posted the review but was I wrong!? I've attended 100+ interviews in my career as a Senior Software Engineer with 8+ years of experience in the industry. This is the worst interview I've ever attended! The hiring manager asked me to do 3+ hours of an online test only to be ghosted completely. The hiring manager didn't even show up for the FIRST MEETING which was supposed to be an introductory call to understand more about the company. I wasted 3 hours of my precious time and 0 courtesy to reply to the email even after several follow-ups. If you're an experienced engineer, please avoid this company at all costs and save your time. Their interview process speaks volumes of their culture especially your values won't align here if you're from the European continent.

Question 1
Are you confident in wasting others' time? What are the ideal steps you can take to waste someone's time and effortts?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Lumenalta in Nov 2024
Interview
It was the worst hiring process I’ve experienced in my career. First, applying for the vacancy required a 45-second audio recording explaining how I aligned with their values. I initially considered skipping it, and I was right to feel that way, but I did it anyway.
Next, they sent a three-part home assessment with a three-hour time limit. The first part was interesting, but the remaining tasks involved simply fixing a React app—finding missing props—which was tedious and didn’t assess any relevant skills, in my opinion. I completed only the first part and decided to stop and send only the first part because I felt I was wasting my time. I emailed the recruiter about this, and they invited me to an initial interview.
The initial interview began without introduction or agenda. The recruiter immediately started asking about my technical skills (React, TypeScript, Node.js), making notes on each. They also asked about my education and salary expectations. That was it. The recruiter didn’t even ask if I had any questions.
When I finally asked some, I only received yes or no answers. They then asked about my salary expectations again (I repeated my previous answer), said they’d be in touch, and then sent a rejection email the next day without explanation.
Job seekers, please avoid Lumenalta and save your time by looking elsewhere.
