The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Lumiata (San Mateo, CA)
Interview
I did not get a job description, so I never really knew what was the position I was interviewing for. Even during the interview I asked about that and never got an answer. I also never knew the name of the interviewer until the interview began. The interview itself was fine. It is just that I personally do not agree with this style at all. The interviewer asked me technical questions, and when I know the answer he interrupted me and did not let me speak. And when I did not know the answer which eventually happens since you cannot know everything the other person knows he paused and took all the time in the world to know why I do not know what he knows. To me, I just feel like this style does not emphasize on the strengths of the candidate. Instead, it’s a show-off from the interviewer that they know things you don’t. I personally did not like this at all and this was a red flag to me. It just tells me from the very beginning that I am not going to be respected and appreciated as an experienced individual.
I applied through other source. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Lumiata (San Mateo, CA) in June 2018
Interview
1st interview was via phone with the hiring manager (HM), additional phone interview/conversation with a peer, final interviews on-site with HM, tech leadership (as this role would partner with and support them) and a peer; I found out about this role because the HM contacted me directly via LinkedIn
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Lumiata (San Mateo, CA) in May 2019
Interview
I was contacted by Miguel Alvarado, Lumiata's CTO by phone. After the initial phone screening, I went onsite 3 times to meet with Miguel, Dilawar (the CEO), and the rest of the product/data science/engineering team. New management is great - they understand what customers need and are building the right pathways for company's long-term growth. Rest of the team are nice to work with and are experts in their own field. Lumiata is a wonderful company to join and I wish them every success in the future.
