      Embedded Design Engineer Interview

      24 Nov 2009
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Coopersburg, PA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Lutron Electronics (Coopersburg, PA) in Oct 2009

      Interview

Was offered an on-college campus interview. Interviewer, due to scheduling conflicts, changed interview to a video conference. First interview was mainly technical. Was asked to introduce myself, talk about my previous experiences then right into technical questions. Was asked the typical 3 lights in a room question. Three lights in a room, 3 switches outside, figure out which switch belongs to which light. Got an offer to second round interview at their Coopersburg site. Lutron took care of travel and hotel accommodations. Got a mini-tour of their campus when I first got there. Went thru two interviews. Then offered a more detailed tour, had lunch and then was told the day was over. First of the two interviews was a critical thinking/estimation interview. Asked to estimate and produce a number for the cost in dollars to have all cars in the U.S. have daytime running lights. Second interview covered more technical stuff. Started off with light bulbs and wattage of them, then went into why wiring them in parallel/series, then went into BJT theory and lastly microcontroller programming. Very quiet place. Did not look very exciting. But people appear to be very nice and friendly.
