Typical tech interview. Phone call with recruiter, phone call with hiring manager, on site panel.
Phone calls with recruiter were always pleasant. She was really good.
Hiring manager seemed nice during our phone interview. Not much to say it was almost a repeat of the phone conversations with the recruiter.
First interviewer was unprepared. He clearly never looked at my resume or any info before walking in the room. He immediately started making inaccurate claims about my management experience despite my resume sitting in front of him. It is not a fun experience needing to correct the interviewer right off the bat. As he probed my experience it was obvious he did not like that I had previously done the job he is doing now. Time was managed poorly and I was provided 3 minutes to ask questions while the next interviewer was already waiting outside.
Second interview was okay. It was a skills test which I assumed would be covering game/simulation technology. The interviewer was a staff security/networking/infrastructure engineer who knew nothing of game technology. So we did a skills test of his domain. Having zero experience I politely talked through the test and we had what I thought was a pleasant time. Once again, time was managed poorly and I had only a few minutes. I asked him for feedback on the skills test because it was outside my wheelhouse. He was offended I asked for feedback (maybe try working on a poker face if you are going to interview people?), refused to comment, and promptly walked me out.
I was disappointed with the way they handled my on site interview. The interviewers made mistakes, were unprepared, and the skills test had nothing to do with the job. I asked for feedback again after receiving a typical rejection letter but they have ghosted me.
