Interview
I interviewed for a full-time faculty position. Standard interview process: Zoom interview with the search committee, then an on-site interview day including a job talk. The department chair later decided to split the posted full-time position up amongst multiple candidates. I was financially unable to accept their part-time offer of a 50% salary and the scaled-down benefits package, so I had to decline. It felt deceptive to put candidates through a rigorous months-long search process under the false pretense of a full-time opportunity. I followed up with the search committee, Dept Chair, Dean, and HR to try to understand why the full-time role was being split up between multiple candidates and changed to part-time, but it was never clearly communicated.

Interview
There was no interview. I cleared my schedule to accommodate a phone screening, and 14 minutes past the scheduled start time I became concerned when I had not received a call. I reached out by email, only to be informed—just 8 minutes before the screening would have ended—that the position had already been offered and accepted.
It is difficult to believe this was not known prior to contacting me a few days ago. The way this was handled was extremely unprofessional and reflects poorly on an organization with such a strong reputation. It was both disappointing and discourteous to treat a potential candidate, who expressed genuine interest in contributing to your team, in this manner.

Interview
It was fairly straightforward and well structured. Interviewers were professional and seemed fairly interested in the answers I provided. There was some waiting for interview times and I had to send a follow up email in order to hear more however.
