      New Auto Sales Interview

      31 Dec 2010
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Manhattan Auto in June 2010

      Interview

Submitted a resume through a job listing on NY Craigslist, followed up via email a couple days later, and the next day received a phone call from one of their sales manager. Arranged an interview the following week, when I was already scheduled to be in town for other interviews. Waited nearly two hours for the sales manager to finish a meeting (not with customer, either). He spent the first two minutes looking at my resume (not a great start), and then we chatted for about 20 min. He asked me about a business I had run (about the extent of the "interview" process) and then he talked for ten minutes about the celebrities he had sold cars to and excused himself as he had other business to attend to. I struggled to break into the "conversation" but he wasn't very interested. About three days later I received a call from a different person in the office, offering me a position answering emails for commission. I declined the offer.
