I had an in-person interview in Grand Rapids that I genuinely thought went well. I felt confident in my responses and walked away feeling positive. A few days later, I received an email saying I didn’t get the position. Disappointed, but still wanting to improve, I sent a thank-you message and asked if they could provide any feedback on my interview. Instead of a response, I found out my email had been blocked right after they sent the notice that I didn't get the job.
It's incredibly frustrating. Candidates spend hours preparing, tailoring resumes, researching companies, showing up professionally, and giving their best in interviews. Yet when we ask for a few minutes of feedback, something that could help us grow, we're met with silence, or worse, completely shut out. It feels like the effort we put in is one-sided, and honestly, that’s exhausting.
