      Senior Claims Examiner Interview

      21 Aug 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Deerfield, IL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Markel (Deerfield, IL)

      Interview

I initially went and met with the Director of Claims. Upon being called back for a second interview, I met both with Human Resources as well as all the managers on the floor (not just those in my practice area). After two interviews and approximately two weeks of waiting, I received an offer.

      Senior Claims Examiner Interview

      6 Dec 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Richmond, VA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Markel (Richmond, VA) in Aug 2016

      Interview

A recruiter contacted me by e-mail, and described the position. The pay was about 25% less than my current pay, so I told him I wasn't interested. The recruiter called back a week later and said my salary expectation was "workable." I went through a 30-minute telephone interview with HR, a 4hr video conference interview with superiors, and a couple more hourlong video conference interviews with parallel staff. Each person was totally pleasant, and I appreciated everyone's candor. The more I learned about the company and its underwriting appetite, the less interested I was in the position. I heard nothing from Markel people so I followed up with the recruiter, who advised me that Markel "went a different direction."

      Anonymous employee
      Red Bank, NJ
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Markel (Red Bank, NJ) in May 2012

      Interview

Nothing unusual in the interview process, was very standard. First came the telephone interview which last about an hour. After this phase, you are invited in for a 1 on 1 interview with the hiring manager and possibly an underwriter
