I applied through university. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Marriott International in Feb 2014
Interview
This was an on-campus recruiting position. You submit your resume, it is pre-screened, and you either are or are not selected to interview, and then you interview. The Marriott folks want to hire as many qualified individuals as possible so there was a team of 3 associates interviewing. In my interview I was asked about location preference and was told that in 4-6 weeks they would contact me with the decision. 4 weeks later I received a call from the same recruiter who interviewed me and he offered me a few locations. I chose Washington, D.C. and was placed at a property where I worked for 3 months.
Easy. Quick and asked about why hospitality. What made me want to apply to this industry with no prior hotel experience. I had F&b so that helped. Customer service is a plus l. Asked how I dealt with difficult guests.
Phone interview with recruiter. In person with a manager. 2nd in person with General Manager. A lot of situational questions (situation, task, action, and result format). Good to have solid examples for each questions.
I applied online. I interviewed at Marriott International
Interview
2 interviews before job offer one with front office manager then move on to interview with GM. Low pay for what is expected but great way to get in the door
