      Finance Interview

      30 Apr 2009

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at MasTec (Miami, FL) in Mar 2009

      Interview

The initial interview was conducted over the phone and lasted approximately 1.5 hours. The discussion encompassed an in depth technical review, overview of the position and company, and conversations about the company's industry. The interviewer was very friendly and knowledgable. The second interview involved meeting several members of the company at the middle management level. There seemed to be a lack of enthusiasm and passion in their tone when speaking of the company which was a turn off. They all were fairly new to the company and all mentioned that it had lots of problems recently and were just starting to rebuild their talent. They mentioned simple and standard processes such as an annual review were not in place and that the company lacked organization. There were no technical questions, mostly just questions that revolved around the resume and cultural fit questions.

      Question 1

I don't think there was any truly difficult or unexpected questions. I was surprised to hear everyone talk negatively about the recent past and mention that talent was lacking.
