      Math Tutor Interview

      8 Nov 2015
      Anonymous employee
      South Pasadena, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Mathnasium (South Pasadena, CA)

      Interview

Mark Yutan, the manager at the time, met with me. There are 2 parts to the process. 1. You're given a test, full of elementary school math. I believe you need to get at least 80% correct. If you pass, the interviewer will go over the test with you and talk about what you got wrong. 2. You do a personal interview. We talked about why I wanted to tutor, what my background was, etc. Eventually we talked salary, etc. At the end of the process I was told I would receive an email about the coming week's work schedule. After receiving a response to my email about the position, I was working there within a week.

      Interview

When I interviewed at Mathnasium, I first had a short phone call about my background. Then I went in for a math test and a short interview. They asked how I’d explain problems to students and watched me do a sample tutoring session.
