The interview was conducted entirely via Zoom with the camp director. It was straightforward and I was essentially hired on the spot due to my extensive background. However, the initial pitch was highly deceptive. The director heavily hyped up the perks of being in the travel program, like overnight trips. He did not at all mention in the interview that these "perks" are not guaranteed due to the optional nature of the overnights that parents have to pay extra for, on top of the already steep tuition. They don't tell you, in fact, until after the camp session starts. The kids who don't participate in the optional overnights stay back and some counselors have to as well. You may be forced to miss out on these experiences and extra pay whether you want to or not. The leadership at this camp really needs to be honest about this instead of promising a specific experience to candidates and pulling the rug out from under them when they have them locked into a contract.
