I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Sept 2017
Interview
I applied online through their website, I had a recruiter reach out to me because I randomly messaged some of the recruiters on LinkedIn weeks before. I spoke to her for 5 minutes, the next day had the phone interview, 2 days later had a in-person interview in NY with 2 administrative coordinators who were amazing people. They wanted me to be comfortable and just wanted me to talk to them without being afraid. After the interview they asked me if I preferred NY or Basking Ridge location, so I chose Basking Ridge, NJ. A week later my recruiter reached out to me and told me I had an interview in Basking Ridge (Thursday) and the following day was an interview with my physician (Friday). The interview Thursday was basically the same I had in NY, I even mentioned it to them, they knew I passed the NY interview but just wanted to do the interview to get to know me since it was a different location which was fine. I knew the questions they were going to ask me since I had been through the process in NY. The physicians interview took about 10 minutes since she was so busy, she was a bit intimidating but such a sweet and intellectual woman. Just be yourself with your physician. Monday I was offered the job!
I was extremely nervous about the initial interviews but I shouldn’t have been. The process is not as scary as most people say it is. They want you to work at the hospital just as much as you want to be there as well. Be prepared with some stories and you will be fine. Don’t forget to ask questions!

Interview
A couple of weeks after I applied for the position, I received an email from a recruiter asking to set up a phone interview. The phone interview lasted about 10 min and she asked very basic questions just to get to know me. We proceeded to set up a video interview for later in the week. The video interview was with the recruiter where she went on to ask me questions about the company and also situational questions from past experiences. For the situational questions I was required to answer using the STAR method (important to know what this is). The video interview lasted around 30 min and once it was complete, we set up a date for me to come in and meet with two Administrative Coordinators and the recruiter, herself. I met with the recruiter first and it was a very brief conversation. She provided me with helpful interview tips that will help make the interview go a lot smoother. The interview with the Administrative Coordinators lasted around an hour and I had to responded using the STAR method. That interview went well and the following week I met with the Doctor I would be working for. The Doctor asked me questions to get to know me and was very nice.
Everyone in this hospital is very nice and wants to make sure you are a good fit for the company. The questions were about the hospital, past experiences, and myself. It is important to know what the STAR method is in advance to help you when it comes time to interview.
