This is more of an ethics review. I was working for a company as a contractor and I applied for a job with them. I told the company I was working for I cannot commit to full time because I will be busy after new years.
When I interviewed with Mentus right before Christmas vacation they said they needed someone NOW and after the holidays they hire me for a project and if I did a good job I would be pretty much full time as their other developer left or was out the door pretty much. They said I can work remote but I would need to come in to meet with clients and I could hear them talking between themselves as I was talking to the PM that "yea, they like me and going to pass me work." while nodding their heads in approval. It was obvious.
So I removed myself from a stable paycheck with unlimited hours. This put me in a weird position as not many people hire after the holidays and I was without full time work for about 2 months.
Later, the CEO said I wasn't chosen because: "location and cost" but my rate is way below market rate.. I live 1 hour away on the train and bus which is very normal for San Diego.
I would just really consider looking for another agency for your work as their word in my experience doesn't go far. Sure nothing in life is promised but it was very obvious by their words, actions, and feedback talking to each other.
