      Account Executive Interview

      23 May 2012
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Meraki (San Francisco, CA) in May 2012

      Interview

I initially discovered the position through Linkedin, which was a great way to search for opportunities. After I applied, I was contacted by a recruiter for a phone interview. During the phone interview, the recruiter asked key questions to see if I was the type of candidate that would be asked to go on to the next phase of the process. The next part of the interview process was the most interesting interview style have experienced. I was invited to a "Happy Hour" event at a restaurant/bar to mingle and meet hiring managers and other members of the company. There were other candidates there for the same purpose, so needless to say, it is was very competitive. The recruiter was very helpful prior to attending the event. They set expectations of what your're suppose to know and who you will be talking to, as well as, what you will want to focus your conversation on to make sure you are a standout candidate. My advice to anyone reading this...make sure you talk to each and every person from the company, and be prepared. DO NOT WING IT. They will see through that. The next portion of the interview process is meeting with the hiring managers for 1:1 interviews in the Meraki office. Again, the recruiter will help you prepare by giving you the resources and the tools to successfully present yourself. I met with four different hiring managers, who spent 30 min each asking questions and discussing my background. Make sure you come prepared with good solid questions for each hiring manager, and close them at the conclusion of yout time with them. You are there for about 2 hours and then you leave. They deliberate and see what's needed to address any concerns they collectively have about you as a candidate. In my case, I was asked to come back and present the company's products as tho I was selling to my previous employer. This was a challenge, but I wanted the position so I worked diligently to prepare. The recrutier gave pointers, sent me a powerpoint to work from and put me in contact with someone who was recently hired that had a solid presentation. You don't need to know everything, so during the presentation, if you don't know something, make sure you say you will find out and get back to them. Overall, I was very positive about the interview process. My recruiter helped significantly and provided me with a lot of tools.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Meraki

      Interview

Appalling interview process with Meraki. First interview with the recruiter then I had an initial conversation with the Regional Sales Manager which went pretty well. At the end of the call I have been told they will provide me with an update within the next days to schedule the next step. But none of that happened and I didn't get any feedback either positive or negative which is quite rude and unprofessional.
