I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Merchenta (London, England) in July 2015
Interview
There were several steps. Most time was spent reviewing my code from previous open source projects - they were interested to learn why I did things the way I did and how I could do things differently again. Had Java and Scala test questions on technical things like frameworks. They were nice team interested in technical design patterns not just "how to do this or that".
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Merchenta in Mar 2014
Interview
Like others said, the interview with the CEO is mostly him explaining all good things about the company. The technical interview was conducted way better (it was done with a technical person), and it was much more demanding.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Merchenta (London, England) in Nov 2013
Interview
There was several interviews, mostly technical tests. Queries about how to design an application - they looked at code I had on github and asked lots of questions about decisions and design patterns used in that - how I approached the task, what it was intended for and who would be a user. Although there were many steps in process, it was done within a week or two. They move quick!
