My interview process with Microbix was unfortunately one of the most exhaustive and disappointing experiences I’ve encountered. Over the course of several weeks, I went through seven rounds of interviews, including multiple assignments and meetings with different team members. Despite investing a significant amount of time and effort, the process lacked transparency, communication, and basic respect for the candidate’s time.
There were long gaps between interview rounds, with no proactive updates or clear timelines. I often had to follow up myself to learn the status of the application. After so many rounds, I expected a level of efficiency and professionalism, or at the very least, timely communication, unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
Moreover, it felt like the process was less about assessing fit and more about over-scrutinizing each individual without making any real progress toward a hiring decision. For a company of its size, this was surprising and frustrating.
While I respect the company’s mission and the work they do in the life sciences space, I believe the candidate experience is a reflection of internal processes. I hope Microbix takes this feedback to streamline their hiring process and treat candidates with more clarity and consideration in the future.
