There were so many red flags. I have no idea why this company has such a high rating. From my experience in the interview, I would say the reviews are likely fake.
Do you remember the Drew Carey Show? The office where he worked with Mimi? If not, picture a 90's era office sitcom where people gripe around the water cooler. Welcome to Milani. That is the overwhelming impression once you walk in their office off Kingsway in Burnaby.
The interview itself was brief, and held in a boardroom that was held at about 30 C on a 10 C day. They apologized that the heating was broken. For a company with Heating as a part of its name, it inspired absolutely no confidence in its competence to successfully deliver climate control solutions to its customers.
The interview questions were based on reliability (always a red flag) and although they frequently advertise on Indeed at 17-21 an hour, their actual wages as discussed in the interview are based on booking service calls out. No service calls booked? <$17/hr. The amount of calls booked are the metric the company will judge your success upon, so helping customers who have questions, or are trying to find a quote from various companies will both reduce your pay and your likelihood of continued employment.
I have it on good authority that they contacted the company I worked for (not my references, the company!) without my authorization or approval.
Finally, as a last caution to any thinking of applying; it seems like this company has a high turnover rate, as I have seen their ad up constantly for over 8 months.
Be forewarned, folks!
