      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

      Interview

Applied online and heard back via email after about 1 month. Went through three rounds of interviews and had to supply a writing sample. Process started rolling very quickly after first contact, but was a very long (~6 weeks) process overall.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Milken Institute in Sept 2025

      Interview

Initial 30 min screening call via Teams, followed by back-to-back 30-45 min interviews in-person at the Milken Institute office in DC. The screening call was pretty standard (learned about the team's research areas, discussed skills and prior experience relevant to the role) and was contacted two weeks later to schedule additional interviews. Both in-person interviews were with team members of varying levels. While most interviewers were nice and asked fair questions, one of the more senior team members was incredibly rude and interrupted nearly all of my responses to the questions (even if they were not the one asking). I think it was either a pressure test or they are just unapologetically pretentious. At one point the this person made a comment saying I wasn't "making enough eye contact" with them, which I thought was a very weird thing to mention. Overall that person was incredibly unprofessional and their constant interrupting really threw me off from performing my best. Heard back two weeks later saying that I was not selected for the role. I would think that such a well-known and respected think tank like the Milken Institute would treat their applicants with more respect and dignity. Most likely will not be applying for a role with them in the future.

      Associate Interview

      15 Aug 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Milken Institute (Washington, DC) in July 2022

      Interview

The interviews themselves were easy and informal even though it took 3 rounds of interview for an entry-level position. The wait time between interviews were really long and the whole process took more than 2 months (a month longer than what they told me in the phone screening). The interview process seems ad hoc and managed by the Centers instead of a HR team so the steps/timeline was vague at times. A plus is that the team was pretty responsive to emails if you have any follow-ups.
