The Hiring Process: 20 min HR Phone Screening → 1-hour In-Depth HR Call → Design Lead Technical Call → Cultural Fit Interview
Overall, a neutral experience. I’d suggest replacing the second HR call with a conversation involving someone from the design team. This would provide more relevant insights into the role and help candidates better understand expectations and team dynamics.
First they gave me logical exercises to solve. Then they asked about my experience and knowledge of technical terms. They were especially interested in knowledge of web layout and working with APIs
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Mindbox in July 2023
Interview
The process commenced with an initial call with the HR representative from the staffing agency. This phase was quite amicable, involving some standard inquiries regarding my professional background and prior roles. Subsequently, I was presented with a test aimed at rectifying issues within a compact React application. After a week of waiting without receiving any response, I took the initiative to inquire about the status of my test results. In response, I was extended an invitation for a technical interview, as informed by the HR personnel. Interestingly, the actual interview didn't align with my expectations of a technical assessment. Instead, it turned out to be a conversation with the project manager and an internal HR representative. This situation appears to have resulted from a significant miscommunication between individuals external and internal to the company. The project manager came across as affable and effectively elucidated the company's operational procedures and technological landscape. However, I regrettably must mention that the interaction with the HR representative was slightly disconcerting. There seemed to be a degree of abruptness in their demeanor, and at times, it felt as if my responses weren't entirely heard or comprehended. This was underscored by the repetition of certain inquiries. Despite assurances from the HR representative regarding a prompt response, regrettably, no such communication was received. Furthermore, my attempts to seek feedback through messages went unanswered. When a candidate invests time and effort into pursuing a position, it is reasonable to anticipate a professional and courteous level of correspondence in return.
