Contact is via email if you areselected for the initial Written Exam. The date and time of the exam are given and you cannot change the scheduled time. The exam is a fingerprinting test, which starts with 2 of the forensic crime lab members giving a short presentation on fingerprinting. Then there is a page of fingerprints that have to be matched to knowns. It is a timed exam (45 minutes). You need to call HR on a certain day within certain hours to find out if you move on to the oral exam. You get to choose between select dates and times for the oral exam. A page of 10 interview-type questions is given to you to look at and take notes for 10 minutes prior to the oral exam. Once the time is up, you are allowed to bring your notes into the interview room, where you sit at a table opposite 3 crime lab team members. They ask you the 10 questions and there is a 20 minute time limit. If there is time at the end you are able to ask additional questions. Your score is only determined from your answers for the oral exam. You will be contacted to find out if you made the final list of candidates. This final list will be used for the next year if any other positions open up. They only choose a new scientist from this list.
