I applied online. I interviewed at Motion in Mar 2026
Interview
I thought it was just me that had a terrible experience, but seeing the other bad reviews made me feel that I wasn't alone. I submitted a video as part of the first step and quickly got an HR screening after. The interview started a bit differently, where the HR recruiter was showing me a demo of how their products looked, which I thought was pretty cool, but I felt we were stuck on this part for a bit too long especially considering the interview was supposed to be 30 mins but went on to take almost 1 hour!! I felt the questions that were asked weren't really clear and didn't give me a good opportunity to explain my experiences. This was probably my worst interview experience. My feedback is please learn to lead the interview productively to not waste people's time.
Other Customer Success Manager (CSM) interview reviews for Motion
15 mins with an inexperienced recruiter, then 30 mins with the hiring manager, then 30 mins with the team lead. Required a Loom video to apply but never watched it (incredibly disrespectful, especially when they claim to "take hiring very seriously and review every application"). Leadership couldn't provide any specific goals that the team is working toward. Not sure what's going on here but obviously not a good place to work. As others have mentioned, they are 'committed to a "hell yes or no" approach' and couldn't give me any specific feedback about why they didn't move me forward.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Motion in June 2025
Interview
Was referred by someone to the hiring manager but they diverted me to do a 15 min screening with the recruiter. The entire thing felt rushed and they didn't even look at my resume ahead of time, so it was clear I was already out of the running and they just wanted to waste my time. When it came time to ask questions at the end, the recruiter said they had another meeting right after basically to discourage me from asking anything further. About a week later after sending multiple follow ups, I was rejected and was given the reasoning that they hire on a "hell yes or no" approach to our selection criteria" - which makes no sense because they didn't even have my resume. Anyway, kind of reflects the type of company this is and sucks to see so many seemingly cool companies go down the drain with crappy recruiting practices.
