      Account Executive Interview

      4 June 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Nashville, TN
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Motive (Nashville, TN) in May 2019

      Interview

Initially 3 phone calls one with talent rep, 2 with Regional Sales Managers, total phone time spent was 2.5 hours discussing my experience. The talent rep stated I was a good fit, the next Regional Manager stated the same thing and passed me over to his counterpart. She then said we like you to come in for a in person interview and I would provide a 90 day plan on my strategy. We scheduled a day and time and I had to cover all travel, air, hotel, transportation and meals. There was zero assistance from this company not even a hotel. I had to go to Nashville and you think there would be some help but none. If this is how they treat interviewees how do they treat their employees? I arrived the night before and the next day headed to their office to meet with the 2 Regional Managers. We had exactly 1 hour not a minute longer. I sat there and discussed the 90 day plan for the territory and how I would approach it. I find out during the meeting this is a brand new position have no clue what they are looking for since they do not have remote sales rep's now. The one manager even said my plan is pretty good and the other rep was taking all kinds of notes. She stated that some of these ideas would work now. We get to the last couple of minutes and a few questions and that is when I found out they had more in person interviews. Why are you bringing people in from out of state after going through 3 phone interviews? This is not a interview it was a meeting to see if you fit their culture of 28-38 age group. After the meeting the talent rep walked me out and said the expense department will contact me asap about reimbursement. A week went by with no word on job or expenses. I contacted KeepTruckin and they said the link was sent out over a week ago for this but there was no record of that actually happening so this was a lie. They did send it again and it was very problematic and when I asked to be reimbursed they wanted me to sit through a online training course for this. I don't work for the company so why should I bother. It took many emails and finally a threat if I do not see reimbursement by a certain date I would have to take further action. Almost 3 weeks went by before they finally resolved it without any apology of any kind. So in a nutshell if you interview with this company and have to travel from out of state it will be a problem to get reimbursed. Also they are unprofessional about everything and are clueless how to treat people. I have done interviews over my career and this has been the worst experience plus I had to threaten them to be reimbursed for travel. If this is how they treat people during the interview process it makes you wonder how they treat their employees and customers. Now I expect them to respond to this post and they should but all of it is 100% true so when they come back with we are sorry you had such a bad experience and this is not our intention. They will add that KeepTruckin is growing and this stuff is to happen from time to time but will take my information and try to get better. I am laying it out what they will say so be prepared. Finally 2 days of travel and countless emails to get reimbursed. If you decide to go through the interview process be aware and Good Luck.

We read every review, and while we haven’t responded to reviews in the past, it seems like the least we can do in your case. I’d say we did a truly terrible job in providing a great experience for you. My understanding is that we’ve resolved your individual reimbursement issue, but please reach out to me directly if that’s not the case (caitlin.schlakman@keeptruckin.com). It’s clear our candidate travel process needs some work. Yes we’ve grown quickly, yes these things happen from time to time when you have as many candidates coming through for interviews as we do. However, you’re right that if a candidate isn’t able to be reimbursed through our usual process (which is an expenses app that all of our employees use), then we don’t have a good backup. And your situation brought this to light. In the immediate term, we’re having our Recruiting team work with Finance more closely to ensure they can speak to candidates and coach them on every step of the reimbursement process. But longer term, we need to re-evaluate how we’re working with candidates when they need to travel onsite for an interview. I’m incredibly sorry we dropped the ball so badly with you. And I’m especially sorry we did it in such a way that made you feel like we don’t care about candidates and treat people with respect. I can assure you that isn’t the case, but we hear you, and we’ll make sure we’re walking the walk so no candidate has your same experience.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Motive (Austin, TX) in Aug 2025

      Interview

Really enjoyed the interview with the immediate team, but was completely ghosted by the recruiter after 2 rounds. After speaking to 3 people and not hearing back, I was pretty disappointed because I was interested in the role and did follow up on my end more than once.
