Firstly I was given a safety presentation to make sure I know the basics of being in a mill. I was able to dress casually but had to wear some boots. I was taken to the steel mill to see the hot rolls in action and see the products NLMK produced. Then I got to the office and review my general computer science background as a recent college graduate. I was asked everything from joins and unions on tables, to the number of bits used to store a 5 digit number, and about memory issues and garbage collection. Afterwards I got to tour a separate IT office where they do Oracle Pl/SQL development, making forms and reports. Again I was asked a few questions but less than before; mostly shown introductory work I'd be doing on a daily basis. I was then able to meet with the head of technology where I was able to discuss daily job routines and the type of benefits I get when working. I was asked which of the two environments I preferred and I asked about Oracle PL/SQL because I thought it was the better of the two.
