      Application

      I interviewed at NORDAM

      Interview

Everyone was very nice, but the process was awkward from start to finish. I had to walk through a giant plane repair bay to find a tiny office in the back where the tech team worked and legitimately almost got lost. Spent half the day meeting with potential teammates, the hiring manager and her peer, then the head of the department. At the end of the day, I was asked to meet with the department head one more time, and she let me know that the team decided I was qualified for the position, but they were worried about I’d get bored with the work and try to advance to something else or move on. I appreciated the candor, but it was very deflating after spending so many hours onsite and knowing that I was more than qualified.

      Question 1

They asked me, if you were a fruit, what would you be? It was obviously meant to put people off guard and determine how they thought on their feet, but it was strange nonetheless.

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at NORDAM (Tulsa, OK) in Sept 2017

      Interview

5 interviews total including one with the recruiting agency. There was a phone interview with 3 team leads and two in-person panel interviews with 6-8 people. On the final interview, they took me to lunch and business was not discussed too much. This final interview was more of a gauge to see how my personality fit with the team. The end result was a bit frustrating. I turned down multiple interviews after the 2nd in-person interview with the Nordam team because the Recruiting agent called me to tell me that Nordam was going to hire me and that they were creating a new position for me ("per the IT Director" in the recruiter's words). I continued to participate in the prospective employee courtship for this opportunity and received a call (from the staffing agency's Senior Recruiter) after one and a half months of interviewing with them that Nordam would not be moving forward with me as a candidate. This reflects poorly on the staffing company for promising me the position, not Nordam, however.

      Question 1

In a situation where the owner of the company comes to you and asks for something to be done immediately, but your team is swamped with high priority items, how would you respond?
