I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at NYU Langone Health in Nov 2022
Interview
It was a 40 minute interview that consisted of an introduction of self and the floor/patient population. Half of the interview was the basic and expected questions as listed below, but the other half were clinical questions. Maybe this was because I applied to a critical care floor; I don't know if this is the same format as other NYU Langone RN interviews. They gave me a case study about a patient and a brief medical history. They asked me what I would do in this situation, what labs the Dr would order, what labs are expected to be abnormal, what the labs indicate, how their past medical history correlated to their clinical exacerbation. Then they asked me about a difficult clinical experience I have had and asked what I would do differently in terms of medical care/ management (not about making them comfortable but what oxygen devices I would utilize and why the Dr would order a test to verify XYZ).
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- tell me about yourself - why the interest in this floor? - what were your involvements? - when did you go above and beyond for a pt? - what makes a good nurse?

Interview
I originally applied for a virtual interview day. Once I was accepted, I chose a day to do my first interview, which was with an HR/talent acquisitionist.
And then the call ended with information about the position, salary, hours, benefits, etc., and I also set up my next interview with the nurse manager I would be working with for the following week.
The second interview with the nurse manager was more oriented towards nursing skills and critical thinking.

Interview
1 virtual screening interview with a recruiter, then 1 in person interview with nurse manager. Interviewing for multiple units that were hiring was permitted, but interviewing actively at multiple NYU Langone hospital locations at once was not.
