      Customer Support Interview

      5 Apr 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Washington, DC
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at NationBuilder (Washington, DC) in Apr 2018

      Interview

I went through a phone interview, a technical challenge, a video interview, travelled an hour and a half to two in person interviews in DC, then had two more video interviews, the last of which was scheduled only about 12-16 hours in advance, just to get rejected over the phone in the end. Talked with a manager, multiple VPs, and the CEO. Everyone I spoke to was very nice, but that's kind of an insane process for a low level, $20 an hour job. An incredible waste of time. I jumped through many, many, hoops for them over an entire month. The whole thing was just strange. I was told they have trouble finding the right people to work there and I can see why. I hope this isn't how they run the rest of their business - I can't imagine they get anything done even remotely quickly. Like I said, everyone was extremely kind and I had great conversations with them, but I'm just confused. Six interviews with five people plus a 24 hour assignment is a bit much, especially for a position that pays barely a living wage.

      Interview

The interview process typically begins with application and resume screening, where recruiters filter candidates based on qualifications, experience, and relevance to the role. Shortlisted candidates are then invited to a phone or video screening, which focuses on basic qualifications, communication skills, and cultural fit. Successful candidates move on to one or more in-depth interviews—these may be conducted by hiring managers, team members, or panels. These sessions often include behavioral questions, technical assessments, or case studies, depending on the role. For technical or specialized positions, a skills test or coding challenge may be required.
