I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at National Grid
Interview
I was greeted by a receptionist and waited in the lobby to be collected by the interviewer.
The interview consisted of a verbal Interview followed by aptitude testing which included basic maths, spelling and problem solving. Relatively formal with one interviewer. You don't find out the results from the aptitude testing.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Give an example of an experience solving a problem in a work environment.
Applied on Indeed. I have direct experience of this role. Applied for it on Indeed. Then was sent to a badly presented National Grid website to fill out additional information and submit my application. Did all of this including submitting my Date of Birth (why?)...took a while to fill out the questions only to be told the job I applied for doesn't actually exist! Such a waste of time and a massive concern about ageism.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at National Grid (Bristol, England) in July 2024
Interview
10-minute short interview. Informal and more of a friendly chat with the HR manager. It was on Teams and not a lot of questions were asked, they were just eager to get someone on the team to fix a backlog.
Their application imposes very inappropriate family socio-economic and marital questions in addition to the customary gender, veteran status, etc., questions. Why do they need to know if my parents were college-educated??
