I interviewed for a school-based special education leadership role through a multi-step process that included a phone screening, a detailed 20-page performance task, and a two-hour in-person interview about a month later. I was initially told I would hear back within one to two weeks, but communication became inconsistent and timelines remained unclear. The interview felt disjointed, overly scripted, and at times impersonal. I also later learned one role had already been filled while the process was still continuing. My concern was less about not receiving an offer and more about the lack of transparency, continuity, and professionalism throughout the process. Especially considering I was given a previous offer with more money.
