The entire process was extremely smooth. It began with a call with the hiring manager. After that was a challenging but short and fun test assignment. Successfully clearing that led to a couple of peer interviews. And the final call was with one of the founders. They even spoke to two of my references. But, at the very end, was told that I’m overqualified for the role and got rejected. It was extremely confusing. Why talk to my references if they didn’t want to hire me? And why are they realising at the very end that I’m overqualified? They knew about my work experience from the very beginning. To be honest, I loved everyone I spoke to. They were all really nice people. But it still left a bad taste in my mouth. Seemed like a case of indecisiveness and lack of clarity about their current needs. And I ended up being the collateral damage in their hiring experiment.
