After submitting a self-recorded video introducing yourself, if accepted, you are invited to a video interview. The conversation explores your background, education and experience, as well as goals for your career. It was relaxed but professional.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why do you feel you'd be a good fit for this position?
I applied online. I interviewed at Noom (Woodstock, CT) in Dec 2020
Interview
I found Noom's interview process to be a bit intensive but extremely well-organized, a fun experience, and highly responsive once we got going!
The interview process:
1. Submit your application through Noom website, submit cover letter and resume along with answering a few specific questions about why you would be a good fit for the position and a personality test.
2. Complete a timed clinical coaching assessment where you have 20 minutes to respond to 6 different user scenarios such as, "I've tried every single type of diet and fitness routine and absolutely nothing works. I feel like I'm going to be fat forever. What do I do!?" For this portion, remember to use OARS motivational interviewing techniques and you'll do fine. Then you'll record a 1 minute video of yourself answering a question such as "What are the 2 most important skills needed to be a successful Noom coach?" (I submitted my initial application on Nov. 17th and heard back about a week and a half later with an invitation to the this assessment)
3. Once you've passed the clinical coaching assessment, you'll be invited to sign up for a time to have a mock coaching interview with "Sam" through a live Google Doc "chat." Many people here say that Sam is extremely difficult to work with, but I definitely did not find this to be the case. The main idea for this interview is to use OARS and MI techniques. If you find Sam to be difficult, you most likely didn't use the proper techniques in chatting with her. Do your research on motivational interviewing beforehand and prepare with questions on hand that you can ask her throughout the interview. Affirm her experience, use reflective listening by repeating what she tells you back to her and ask open ended questions and you'll do wonderfully. :) (After completing the assessment, I received an invite to mock coaching interview 2 days later)
4. Once you've passed the mock coaching interview, you'll receive an invite to sign up for a final, 1:1 Zoom interview with someone from Noom. I found this to be a very relaxed interview! Just be yourself, prepare answers to situational questions about having disagreements with employers or coworkers and how you handled it or how you handle stress and being overwhelmed and how you've worked with a team well. Be yourself. Have fun. You got this. (After completing the mock coaching, I received an invitation to the final interview the same day)
Best of luck! :)
A few rounds of interviews with leadership and then presented with a case study for a theoretical user of Noom of how to assist them through menu selection at a popular restaurant chain.
Interview process included a mock interview (digital) and a virtual 1:1 meeting with a Heath Coach. My 1:1 meeting ended up being a phone call rather than a virtual meeting.
