I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Latham, NY) in Feb 2009
Interview
After passing the initial phone interview I was asked to take part in a series of 1:1 interviews at the Northwestern Mutual offices. The interviews were essentially a long-winded series of descriptions about how much money one can earn selling insurance, followed by an intense review of what friends and family you can immediately tap as potential customers.
After the initial interview with the office manager and the "practice" manager you are then passed off to other senior sales people who further extoll the amount of wealth you can accumulate selling insurance.

Question 1
Can you list 10 family members or close friends who would be likely to purchase insurance products from you in the next 60 days.
Very professional and provide a deep background and understanding of the company. The recruiters are very friendly and help guide you through the interview process. Is a multi-step interview process including surveys and questionaries.
I went through three rounds. You have an initial screening, a one hour interview with an advisor, then meet with a partner in-person if possible. Very detailed, and they bring up cultural test results and financial projections.

Who is someone in your current network that could benefit from this?
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual
Interview
Fortunately it was a decent introduction call.
Unfortunately the recruiter did not know the mission statement for the organization and did not look it up to share it.
Was also informed there were still to be four interviews in the interview process.
