First was the initial phone interview, calling about open positions and seeing what I was interested in pursuing. I felt rushed into doing the phone interview and on-site because someone else was going to be interviewing soon and they wanted to get it all done in one day. I had finals to study for but I elected to do the interview anyways. Was called for my technical phone interview which lasted for over an hour. Questions were in depth as can be over phone but not too crazy.
Get on-site the following day at 8am. I was told interviews for both of us along with the plant tour would be done by 1pm, 2pm at the latest. Did not see anyone until 8:30am. They split the candidates up, one to do personal interviews, the other to do computer battery tests. I did the tests first. Was done in an hour and a half. Not difficult at all.
Waited and finally at 11:30am they get done with his interview. We go to lunch and get back to start my interview. They change rooms and we play the waiting game again. Finally my interview starts. Really in-depth questions with a slight attitude behind them. I answered what I knew how and was chastised for not knowing off the top of my head what 480/sqrt(3) was. Then, they made me solve problems on a white board. Once again, I answered what I could. Interview lasted for 3 hours and I felt like they already knew they wanted the other candidate.
After the interview is over at 3:30pm (already 2.5 hours over schedule and I have an 8am final the next morning which they knew about already) we tour the mill. Very interesting and the best part of my day. Afterwards we go for "quick" exit interviews that are only supposed to last 15 minutes tops. More like 40 minutes. Once again I am taken in second because the other candidate has to catch a flight. I go in for my exit interview and it is the typical why do you want to work here? what do you want to accomplish? how do you fit for this position? Finally get done and leave at 6:30pm feeling physically, mentally, and emotionally drained. Did not even get to study for my final either.
