I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at OYO in Sept 2015
Interview
I was approached by a consultancy firm. Had 2 telephonic rounds ( technical ) and one round over skype with VP of engineering. The interview was standard with all the usual questions. Nothing specific and fairly easy. Technical round comprised of questions related to AWS, Linux, Web servers, Load Balancing etc. Non-technical round comprised of questions regarding my past work and experience and a lot of information about what the company is about and what they aspire to do.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What is your level of interest in joining Oyo? Why are you quitting your current job ?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at OYO (Gurgaon, Haryana) in June 2019
Interview
HR was very unprofessional, he was just connecting via call and he made me wait outside a meeting room for 10 minutes as room for interview was not free and I was really not comfortable standing there in front of 100s of employees. After 10 minutes, HR came and took me to another floor.
1st on call screening was there and then 4 rounds at their HQ.
In the 1st round, I really found the guy frustrated and tired. I answered almost all the questions but guy was not clear with OS basics. He got offended when he asked me about Load Average in linux and I told him about the factors that impact the Load Average like CPU, Diskio and Network. He kept saying no, load average is dependent on CPU only. I tried explaining him with scenarios also where I have seen issues in which CPU was not the bottleneck but it was diskio due to which Load Average goes high. But he didn't agree with my statements.
In the 2nd round, Guy asked me about multiple concepts in cloud. Also, guy gave me scenarios for which I have most of the solutions that too with managed services which were better solutions than the traditional methods they are using. But I guess he wanted to hear that answer that he had in his mind and the solution he told me was more like a hack and had a single point of failure. Overall he asked good questions and I also answered almost all.
In the 3rd round, Senior DevOps came for the interview, I really found him genuine and a true DevOps guy with good knowledge about systems and Databases. He asked mostly questions about databases only. I answered all very well as I have got good experience with Databases. He asked good scenarios to understand my knowledge. Kudos to him.
Final round was Culture Fitment round. Again disappointing as it was taken by someone else not by the DevOps manager.
Overall experience was bad. I was really expecting something better and challenging.
If you want to grow, prefer to go somewhere else. Their knowledge is very limited.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at OYO (Gurgaon, Haryana) in Jan 2018
Interview
So the HR called me up for the interview. There were total of 3 rounds. As this is a startup, the core DevOps engineer did not take my interview. The interviewers were actually developers. They asked me about my internship experience, as I had applied for DevOps-1 role. First round was all related to Databases.(MongoDB). The second round was the scripting and AWS round. The third round was of (Linux Administration+AWS). Interviewers were throwing live scenario based questions in each and every round.
-- Interview level as per me was bit tough.

Question 1
1. Round.) Databases(MongoDB, RDS) -- How would you optimize the retrieving of data from MongoDB? What if data retrieval is slow, what would you do to make it happen faster? Then, there were live scenario based questions. What if a guy comes to you and tell you that Oyo app is not working? What would you do, how would you make ensure everything is working correctly?
Monitoring/Alerting: As I had worked on NewRelic, so the interviewer asked me about latency/throughput.
Then there was a scripting round. I was asked to write a script to calculate average response time which appear in nginx logs. In AWS, they asked me Load Balancer in deep.(ELB, HAproxy).
In Linux, they asked me about LVM. Questions related to Agile methodology were also asked. What's the difference between Agile approach and normal software development cycle.
