I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at One Step Software (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2024
Interview
After a couple of rounds of 1:1 discussions, I was assigned a take-home assignment for a Minesweeper application, described as "infinite" by "infinite" in size (an impractical requirement in computer science) along with a range of comprehensive features.
Despite the daunting nature of the task, I dedicated three days to meticulously crafting the entire application. Aware of the impossibility of infinite size, I made assumptions and tailored the application to handle a staggering 10^64 rows and columns, ensuring optimal performance through rigorous profiling, benchmarking, and other essential measures.
However, upon submission, it became apparent that the company had no regard for my efforts. They swiftly integrated the main algorithm into their project without any discussion or acknowledgment of my submission. This disregard for the work I put in not only undermines the integrity of their job postings but also reflects poorly on their hiring process.
Their unethical behavior is evident and speaks volumes about their lack of professionalism.
