      Manager/Lead, Web Developer Interview

      9 June 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at OneAccord

      Interview

I received a call from an offsite recruiter. She was very very easy to work with, and advised me on the role. The first interview was scheduled 15 days after my initial contact. It was onsite with a very nice woman who was not technical, but was able to determine how well I performed my job. It went very well. Availability for a technical interview was requested five days later. I followed up with the recruiter, but she was having difficulty arrange a time with their team. It took eleven days to meet with a manager. He was very technical, but not a developer like I expected. The interview went extremely well, but the title of the position was changed to "Web Transformation Developer" mid conversation. The role changed now specified that I would manage servers and build templates for Wordpress, alone. Citing that because they're a startup, they intended to grow a team eventually that I might lead. The recruiter and I spoke off-and-on the following days. Five days later I received an email indicating that "they have decided to hold off on any hiring for the Web Transformation team at this time". The recruiter was responsive and performed her job as expected. The team/company she was representing didn't seem to have a clear understanding of what they wanted. They were unreasonably tardy in all communication; more than 30 days is excessive. The result was ultimately unprofessional experience.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The interview lacked any technical questions related to my field or industry and took an exorbitant amount of time to complete.
