I applied online. I interviewed at OneMain Financial
Interview
I met with the interviewer, but the conference room reserved for us was occupied. After asking the occupants to leave, we entered the room—an incredibly small space, just enough for a table and four chairs. Immediately, I was hit with an overwhelmingly strong odor of fresh, hot flatulence. The room had no ventilation, making the air feel thick and stagnant. I can only assume the previous occupants had been using it as their personal gas chamber, unaware that someone else had the room booked. Isn't that what restrooms are for?
Despite the unfortunate atmosphere, the interview initially went well, and I received positive feedback in real time. The interviewer then invited another person to join. This person entered the room, and looked at the floor while shaking my hand. We spoke about the company, my goals, and why I want to work there. They seemed unprepared for the interview. They repeatedly said, "What else? What else?" after I finished speaking. They also scoffed at my education and acted as if they had never heard of the well-known local community college I attended. At the end of the interview, they sighed and said “Interviewing is hard.” I later reached out to the recruiter to discuss the unprofessional experience at OneMain, but unsurprisingly, I never received a response.
