      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Onward Play (Atlanta, GA) in Apr 2023

      Interview

The interview process started as a referral by an internal recruiter on an open role on the team. They provided me with all the necessary information and tips to succeed in the three interview process. Each interview worked more like a conversation than a grilling session, and each interviewer mentioned how great I would be on the team and that they'd recommend to progress me forward DURING the interviews. That had never happened to me before. First chat to offer 10 days!

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Onward Play

      Interview

5 things Onward Play did poorly during my interview for a Game Recruiter position: 1. Incorrectly schedule my first round interview w/ no apology. I'd describe the tone of the call as "I don't know who is responsible for my mistake." 2. Sent me an assessment with an active candidate personal information. Privacy issue. 3. The 1st interviewer spent 5 minutes mansplaining the being a recruiter is "Very hard," but that the company is "really great." He had no specifics for either. 4. The 1st interviewer made it clear that being a good recruiter meant always being available, even at 10 PM if necessary. The 2nd interviewer cut my Final Round Interview in half for purely personal reasons. 5. During my severely truncated final round interview, I was asked the exact same screening questions as the previous 2 rounds. No review of my assessments or analysis of my skills, it's as if no one had thought to communicate at any point during the process. Overall, bad experience, that's not to speak of the lackluster interview preparation or the complete absence of a job description for the role. I can only hope Onward Play treats their active candidates better than people they are thinking about welcoming into the fold.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Did you know that being a recruiter is hard? Like really hard? Did you know it's a tough industry? Did you know you might have to put in extra hours? Are you comfortable always being available? What is your salary expectation? Are you sure, this industry is really hard?
