I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at OpenSea in Aug 2025
Interview
The recruiter first sent an email indicating they'd like to chat more about my skills and offered a scheduling link for me to pick my own date/time. The interview happened entirely over the phone (not zoom). He first talked about the company ethos, general state of the company's expansion, etc. Then we got into some questions related to my experience and how that translates to the role.

Question 1
Tell us about some of the AI platforms you use for generating art or other assets, and describe how these tools have aided your workflow
Instead of hopping on the phone, OpenSea's first step in this process is requiring candidates to complete an exercise. Several days after completing the exercise I received an email saying the position has moved in direction (yet is still posted on their website and LinkedIn). I should have taken it was a red flag that they required candidates to do free work before they even talk to them.

Question 1
Context: Our CEO, Devin, has asked you to make a reservation for a lunch meeting with external partners. Note that he likes to eat a very healthy “Paleo” diet, and has given you the following details: 4 people 2pm His last meeting finishes at 1:30pm (from the office) and needs to be back by 3:15pm. The office address is 104 Greene St, NY, NY 10012. The ask: Please find an appropriate restaurant to book and share 1) how you found it, 2) why you chose it, and 3) a sample email you would send to the external partners confirming the details (feel free to use whatever information and format you'd like for illustrative purposes). Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions and at the end of your 30 minute block, feel free to send your response over to me directly (in whatever format you'd like!)
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at OpenSea in June 2023
Interview
Applied online 1. Initial recruiter phone call 2. Technical screen - React Coding 3. 1/2 day of interviews including - System Design: Build a DB that fetches from the blockchain - React Coding: Build a form with client-side validation - Coding: Build a tic-tac-toe game - Behavioral 2 of the 4 interviews (system design and coding) were backend focused. When I mentioned to the system design interviewer that I was interviewing for a frontend position, he didn't care. He said, "lets just pretend you are a backend engineer" and proceeded with his questions. Everyone else was nice. I was expecting all interviews to be front-end focused.
