I was initially contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn who was highly persistent over several weeks, repeatedly emphasizing that my experience was a strong match and that there was a clear growth path within the firm. A manager also followed up reinforcing the same messaging and positioning this as a strong opportunity.
Based on that level of outreach and the expectations set, I agreed to interview despite not actively job searching at the time.
The interview itself did not reflect what was initially communicated. It consisted of one basic question on reconciliation in ERP systems, which I answered, followed by a largely informal conversation unrelated to any structured assessment of my background or technical capabilities.
The next day, I received an automated rejection email with no feedback or context.
Overall, there appears to be a disconnect between the way the opportunity is positioned during recruitment and the actual interview process. Candidates may want to be aware that the level of outreach and messaging does not necessarily reflect the actual structure or seriousness of the evaluation process.
