Applied online and received an email to set up an interview. The first interview was naturally just sort of a screening interview as it was just with the talent director. The interview itself went great and I answered everything she asked no problem. She then said there’s a cognitive test to do before setting up the next interview which I thought was fine. Two days later I received a canned email saying they had moved on to other candidates. With the experience I had there’s no reason to not have made it to another interview. The impression I got based on this experience is that they are not looking for someone who can provide a good service but rather someone they can control. SEO is all about quality these days and unfortunately Outerbox didn’t get the memo.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at OuterBox in Aug 2025
Interview
Went through multiple rounds of interviews: first with a screener, then with the manager for Enterprise accounts, then with a panel for a regular Strategist position. While I thought I hit it off fairly well for the Enterprise role, I was rejected. Next, for the strategist position, the panel prodded into my personal life, for some reason, and had me give a presentation where I was implicitly instructed *not* to spend more than 30 minutes putting it together and that the assignment was not about "right" or wrong, just what my philosophy was. Then they also rejected me because they took issue with how I spend my time in my personal life. I requested feedback, but was given a canned and corporate template response, which means my expertise and experience had nothing to do with their decision.

Question 1
What do you like to do in your personal time? How do you balance that with your job?
Got ghosted from the recruiter and SEO director after my interview. At least the decency to notify a candidate and let them know they're no longer in the running. I’m not impressed.
