Unfortunately, this was a poor hiring experience. There was a clear mismatch between what the company claimed to be looking for throughout the process and the profile of the candidate who was ultimately hired, which made much of the process feel like a waste of time.
The hiring process itself was also surprisingly unstructured. For a small company with a talent team of several people managing a limited number of roles, I expected a far more organised and efficient process. Instead, it felt inconsistent and poorly coordinated.
I was also asked to travel to the office for a half-day interview and was reassured that my travel expenses would be reimbursed. After the visit, there was no follow-up regarding this despite the time, cost, and effort involved. If candidates are expected to travel and take time off work, there should at least be a reliable process in place to honour those commitments.
The company is clearly working on something exciting and potentially groundbreaking. However, if it wants to continue scaling effectively, it needs to get the basics of its hiring process right.
