The team consists of good people who are interested in your qualifications. I have not received and Leet code challenges or so on. They appear to have an old school attitude towards knowledge and experience rather than "whiteboard" challenges (that AI can solve faster than any human). That is a good thing. Overall, I'd recommend the interview experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They will want to know about your past projects and experiences.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at PA Consulting in Mar 2025
Interview
The interview process was extensive, consisting of an initial screening call, a technical assessment, a competency interview, a technical deep dive, and a final stage with four separate one hour interviews focused on different company values.
While I appreciated the structured approach, the process felt overly drawn out, with around a week between each stage. Communication throughout was inconsistent I had to follow up multiple times just to get updates, which made the experience frustrating. Despite reaching the final stage, I was informed via email that the hiring was paused due to internal reprioritization. While I understand things can change, it would’ve been more respectful to deliver that news via a quick call, especially after investing so much time.
Additionally, there was a disconnect between the role discussed at the beginning (Software Engineer) and what it turned into later (Senior Software Engineer Consultant), which wasn’t clearly communicated upfront.
For the level of effort required and the salary range offered, the process simply didn’t feel justified.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
“How do you bring in more sales or attract new clients?”
This felt a bit out of place given the role was for a Software Engineer, and responsibilities related to sales or client acquisition fall outside the scope of an engineering position.
There was a coding test and video interviews. The video interviews would go over what you did and how you did in the coding test. They would also go over your CV and ask why you want to work at PA.
