I applied through university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at PIMCO (Los Angeles, CA) in Feb 2014
Interview
Applied through campus website, first round interview in summer portfolio analyst. Pretty basic, walk me through your resume, why PIMCO, how do you handle fast paced environments etc.
Some technical questions, what is the duration/convexity of a bond what does it mean. Say a bond has a duration of 5 years and interest rates rose 1%, what happens to the bonds price.
Not too bad of an interview, although the interviewers were kinda awkward.
I applied through other source. I interviewed at PIMCO (Newport Beach, CA) in Apr 2025
Interview
Relatively straightforward, didn’t ask a ton of behavioral just got straight to the point. Was asked a lot about my resume and background which made sense considering I had a fixed income background.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What does the x and y axis stand for on the yield curve
Started out with a general hirevue consisting of some behavioral and some technical followed by a superday with four interviewers and a mix of behavioral and technical questions, but pretty basic
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at PIMCO (Los Angeles Subdivision)
Interview
Hireview has technical part. So you probably should prepare behavioral and technical in fixed income. 10 questions. Be prepared so you don' get superise on tech questions. Typically tech questions should not appear in Hirevue but it did for PIMCO
