I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Page Street Publishing (Salem, MA) in June 2021
Interview
I emailed my resume in and got a response about a week later to set up an interview. The interview was virtual (Google Meet) and with the most senior editor and publisher. We talked about books, hobbies, the publishing industry, and my background experience.
Next was a "writing test" where I had to write back cover copy for a cookbook. I heard back the next week that I didn't get the job but was encouraged to apply again in the future.
After gaining new experience, I applied again months later and was invited for another interview and then I was hired.
Standard—you have an interview and a reader's report and then they make a decision. Not unlike any other entry-level job in the publishing world. I need to write 30 words for some reason so I'm going to keep typing.
