First I should say that I had not applied for a job in a few years and interviewing isn't my strong suit, so I was not as well prepared as I should have been.
My shortcomings aside, before they even introduced themselves their body language conveyed a lack of enthusiasm. They did not appear to have a prepared list of questions to ask me. They said that they had interviewed many people (they told me a number but I don't remember if it was 15, 30, some really high number though). I asked what they were looking for that was so hard to find. They said something along the lines of "We don't know but we'll know it when we see it". It seemed like either they truly didn't know what they were looking for, or they didn't actually want to hire anyone but were required to, or they had decided I wasn't the right candidate before I even introduced myself.
They also gave a facility tour which I did appreciate. Their manufacturing area was well-organized and maintained. On the other hand I noticed that the office area was a large open office will small cubicles. Great environment for someone who likes a chatty collaborative environment, but not appealing to someone who prefers to work alone in quiet. Once I saw that I knew I would not be interested even if they extended an offer.
I am sure they are a great company, just mutually not a fit with me and unsure of what they were looking for.
