The first interview was a group interview and it was quick, professional and the young woman conducting it seemed smart and nice. My second interview was the complete opposite. I was twenty minutes early to my scheduled interview and sat down to wait and continue preparing. The tables at the Westminster, Ca. location were all dirty, as was the floor. There was no evidence that anyone as there to interview me, so at 5 minutes past my interview time I asked a group of employees that were training together. A younger woman looked me up and down and literally sneered and glared menacingly at me! I was shocked. I apologized for interrupting and asked if there was a manager. The woman that sneered was the manager! She had no name tag. She knew nothing about the interview. She said she would come out and talk to me after she was done with her group. During my half-hour wait (the group had long since been done) I called the corporate office to see if I had made a mistake and was only able to leave a message. Finally another young woman came out and interviewed me. She did not have my resume or any information, and did not offer me a drink, which she apologized for after. She told me the other woman was the cafe manager and had not checked her emails, so she didn't know I was scheduled to come. I knew right away that the manager would not hire me because I unintentionally make it look like like she wasn't doing her job, by not checking emails and being prepared. I would have been quite happy with a friendly "i'll be right with you", but a death-stare and leaving me with no idea as to whether she was even going to come out was nerve-wracking. The woman that interviewed me talked about cleanliness competitions with other stores and friendly, home-like environment, but my experience was the opposite. The floor had pieces of food everywhere and the tables were mostly dirty, it was not busy. I was treated with distain, even though outside of applying for a job, I am a customer. However, after this experience I would not accept a job from this location, and I certainly will go to other cafe's instead of choosing Panera.
