I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Panera Bread (Phoenix, AZ) in Feb 2019
Interview
Had 2 interviews in short succession, after submitting an application online. Be aware that the job availability listings at any given location may not reflect actual jobs available at that location.
Most concerning was that the store manager, in my second interview, stated that "I'll speak to my manager regarding a Management position; if that doesn't happen I'll bring you in to the cafe. I'll be in touch."
Neither of which occurred. Not receiving the promised call, I called a couple of weeks later to follow up; an assistant manager (not the store manager who had made those commitments) approached me in the cafe while I was studying (she actually disturbed me, I was asking for a return phone call). The assistant manager gave me a boilerplate "you weren't actually offered a position, and we don't have any positions open now, and won't for at least 2 months."
The store manager should have 1. Been more careful with her language during the interview and 2. Should have had the wherewithal to fulfill her commitment to a return contact.
I applied online. I interviewed at Panera Bread (Redmond, WA) in June 2026
Interview
1) Inform a member that you're there for an application
2) Sit and wait for the manager to come and speak to you
3) They will ask a few questions then say we'll call you back
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1) What is your availability
2) What do you do in your free time
3) Why would you be a good fit
4) Prior work experience
5) Are you flexible
It was fine and not that bad. It was just fairly easy because I was transferred from another Panera Bread. They asked me simple questions based on my experience in the food industry.
