      Cashier/Barista Interview

      10 Jan 2014
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Panera Bread

      Interview

I filled out an application at the beginning of December, probably around December 3rdish. I didn't get a call back until about a week before Christmas and they told me to come in for a first interview the day before Christmas Eve. I went and they asked me questions like why do I want to work there, did I apply anywhere else, what I like to do in my free time, and if I did any volunteer work. They also asked me questions like "what would you do in a situation where a customer was angry about something" About a week after Christmas I got another call to come in for a second interview in a few days. This one was with the general manager and it was really nerve wracking because she forgot she had an interview so I felt kind of awkward and had to wait a while for her. She finally came around and asked me all the questions the first one did but more detailed. For example she asked me what I liked to do in my free time and I answered the same, I like to read as one of the answers and she asked me what kind of books and I felt kind of on the spot and nervous because I wasn't expecting it. I had to think of books off the top of my head because I just wasn't expecting it and didn't want to wait too long trying to think so she wouldn't think I was lying or something. All in all the questions weren't too hard and the first interview took a total of about 4 minutes and the second one took probably like 10-15. The second was a lot longer. Then after my second interview she told me she had more interviews the next day but they would get back to me on Monday or Tuesday and when I didn't get a call I called them on Wednesday and she told me that they had already picked people so I assumed she didn't hire me but then surprise surprise on Friday they called me back telling me I was hired and to come for orientation two days later!

      Question 1

Preferred hours and pay (though this is more courtesy it seemed than actually paying attention — the manager was ALWAYS upset abt people asking for select hours off even when asking weeks in advance)
